Electrical Engineering @ Waterloo
Building at the boundary of bits and imagination.
I’m Amrit — an electrical engineering student who enjoys turning logic into things you can test, play, and learn from. Lately, that means digital hardware, a chess engine, and the occasional homing projectile.
Current mode Learn → build → verify → repeat.
01 / Selected work
Serious engineering.
Playful test benches.
Chess engine + desktop interface
Rash-bot
A ground-up chess engine built around twelve piece-specific bitboards, precomputed attack masks, and fast bitwise move generation.
- Iterative-deepening Negamax with alpha-beta pruning
- Quiescence search, piece-square evaluation, and tactical move ordering
- Mouse controls, promotion, board flipping, and move undo in SDL3
2D endless runner
Desert Dash
An event-driven endless runner whose pace and obstacle spawning become progressively more demanding.
- Vector-based homing projectiles
- Distance-sorted obstacle targeting
- Unique target assignment to prevent duplicate shots
02 / Experience
Where the theory meets the clock.
UWASIC · Waterloo, ON
Digital Design Team Member
Built a Verilog SPI peripheral that decodes 16-bit commands and controls five memory-mapped registers, with two-stage synchronizers to reduce clock-domain metastability risk.
Verified SPI communication and PWM behaviour with Cocotb, then completed RTL synthesis, placement, routing, and gate-level verification under a 420-cell constraint.
Self-employed · Oakville, ON
Private Tutor
Built a tutoring practice serving 10+ middle- and high-school students, delivering individualized STEM instruction and adapting explanations to close knowledge gaps.
Oakville Soccer Club · Oakville, ON
Soccer Referee
Officiated 70+ U8–U17 matches over three seasons, balancing player safety, timing, field inspections, and clear decisions under pressure.
03 / Toolkit
Tools I reach for.
Comfortable moving from behavioural ideas to code, tests, and working builds — with a healthy respect for edge cases.
